Whale Watching with Maesha
Each year, from mid/late February to the end of May, the majestic humpback whales grace us with their presence as they journey to give birth to their calves and engage in mating rituals. Chaves Bay provides the ideal setting to observe these incredible creatures, reaching lengths of up to 18 meters and weighing as much as 40 tons.
Join Maesha, the catamaran expertly guided by Captain Marc with 15 years of ocean experience. This 3-4 hour excursion promises a unique opportunity to witness humpback whales and their calves in their natural habitat along the West coast of Boa Vista. Fear not, as we have on-board restroom facilities for your convenience.
Our whale-watching excursions strictly adhere to regulations that prioritise the welfare of whales and other wildlife, ensuring an ethical and respectful encounter with these magnificent marine beings.
While the catamaran may experience some windiness, limited indoor seating is available. To fully enjoy this spectacular natural phenomenon without distraction from the chill, we recommend being seaworthy by bringing warm clothing.
Whale observations are scheduled on Monday & Friday afternoons from 1:30pm - 5:30pm and Wednesday mornings from 9am - 1pm.
Alternate days and times may be accommodated upon request.
Please be aware that the maximum group size is restricted to 8 people, offering an intimate and impactful experience with the humpback whales.
